In 2015 Lamington National Park celebrates 100 years of conservation. Lamington represents Queensland’s first large national park to be gazetted purely for its natural and cultural values. Its beauty, charm and rugged wilderness are always attracting people’s imaginations.
Lamington is a place that people connect with and many visitors return throughout their lives—it becomes part of their story. These stories can now become part of Lamington’s story.
The Green Mountains Natural History Association, Lamington Natural History Association andQueensland Parks and Wildlife Service invite you to share your Lamington story. We welcome copies of your images, information and any articles. By contributing to this website the collection of stories and images will enrich the already fascinating history of Lamington.

This website has been developed and is jointly managed by the Green Mountains Natural History Association and the Lamington Natural History Association in conjunction with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. The project is funded by the Friends of Parks small grants program, an initiative of the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing to encourage volunteering efforts on parks and other areas managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS).
The website acknowledges that the areas associated with Lamington National Park are primarily the traditional country of the Wangerriburra, Birinburra, Kombumerri, Migunberri, Gugingin, Mununjali, Bollongin and Minjungbal Aboriginal groups, and are all part of the Yugambeh language group.
All stakeholders involved in the Lamington Centenary events and activities, including Aboriginal participants, offer their respect to ancestors and descendants of this language group.
